Payments made through our registration form are processed via PayPal. Credit card payments are also processed through PayPal. You may use your credit card through PayPal, no PayPal account is required to complete your purchase.
Direct Checkout by major credit cards are also accepted via Square. Please note that all credit card transactions are subject to an anti-fraud validation process.
Canada Only : Interac e-transfer direct debit is accepted. Please contact us before making your registration for details.
PayPal E-Check: Should you choose the PayPal e-check option, please note that there is a minimum delay of up to 5 business days before payment is received. Please ensure that your payment is completed before the day of your learning adventure.
1.1. These terms & conditions cover all Art Jewelry courses and workshops held by or provided by Sky-And-Beyond (SAB) / operating under the name www.sky-and-beyond.com / Metal Clay Adventures and Academy of Metal (clay & mixed medias) Art Jewelry (AMAJ). These terms & conditions also cover products (excluding jewelry) and services purchased from SAB during a workshop.
1.2. The reservation of any class or workshop is considered as your acceptance of these Terms & Conditions. The completion of payment for any class or workshop is considered as your agreement to abide by these terms and conditions.
1.3. SAB reserves the rights to modify course content, dates and times based on demand and/or availability as required. Excluding circumstances beyond our control, participants will be notified a minimum of thirty (30) days prior to the course date of any changes. Participants will have the option to transfer to another session or cancel any reservation without penalty (in accordance with section: 10) in the event that course content, dates and times are modified after having accepted these terms & conditions by the completion of registration.
1.4. SAB reserves the rights to modify these terms & conditions at any time. Participants will have the option to cancel any reservation without penalty (in accordance with section: 10) should the terms and conditions be modified after having accepted these terms & conditions by the completion of registration.
2. Registration / Participation requirements:
2.1. Participant must be of legal majority age of the province of British Columbia, Canada which is 19 years old in order to register and participate in any local class or workshop. Participants of our distant learning programs must be of 18 years or older, or have the permission of a legal parent / guardian. The legal parent / guardian must be present and supervise for all online sessions. The minimum age for any programs is 16 years old with a supervising parent / legal guardian present.
3. Course Classification / Rating:
As there is no standardized certification within the field of metal clay skills, the classification of our classes / workshops is based on the below guidelines. Participants should contact us prior to registration of any course if they are uncertain of the benefits of the course content. SAB cannot be held responsible for matching a participant’s skill level to the course content.
Beginner – Introduction to metal clay up to the completion of a simple creation with assistance required for firing & / or finishing. Participants should have good manual dexterity and have the capacity to work with small details of 1mm either unassisted or with the use of their own optical enhancement device.
Intermediate – As beginner plus, a good understanding of the various metal clays available, including the understanding of firing and shrinkage concepts. Participant should have some previous experience with the completion of a number of creations that may include the use of molds or preformed textures and with no assistance required for firing and / or finishing. Has a good understanding of the safety requirements for working with metal clay.
Intermediate / Advanced – As above, but with kiln firing experience. Understands the various concepts of setting stones. Has some understanding of basic metal work with regard to jewelry making. May have experience in other mediums such as polymer clay, glass beading or similar that provide transferrable skills. Has produced more than 10 pieces including firing and finishing unassisted is a good reference.
“Master” – Indicates that the participant should have a good knowledge of working with metal clay. This rating is indicating that the course content has a specific in depth focus on one or more of the following: Jewelry Design, Detailed Product information on a type of metal clay, developing manual artistic skills such as carving, hand forming or metal work and metal treatments.
4. Learning Materials / Tools / Products Provided:
4.1. Unless otherwise stated in the course description, all products used, tools and equipment usage are provided for all classroom setting courses.
4.2. Unless otherwise stated in the course description, participants in all online distant learning programs must provide their own tools, products and materials required to complete the session objectives.
4.3. Participants in online distant learning programs are required to meet the minimum requirements in the technology used: Webcam enabled PC / Laptop or Device, movable webcam is recommended. All related software such as Skype should be pre-installed and functional, a stable high speed (2 mbps min.) internet connection, working microphone.
5. Workshop Health & Safety:
5.1. All participants are responsible for ensuring their own safety and the safety of other participants by following the safety instructions provided. Any conduct that endangers the health or well being of either the participant or others present will result in the participant being requested to leave the location. This being the case, no refund or credit will be accorded.
5.2. All participants in classroom setting courses are required to sign and date a personal injury, disability waiver prior to starting a course. This will be obligatory and included in the safety briefing prior to starting any workshop activity.
5.4. Participants must wear appropriate clothing befitting an environment that contains moving machinery parts with exposure to various oils and chemicals. SAB cannot be held liable for damaged or stained clothing. Aprons may be available but should not be considered as included in any course.
5.5. Appropriate footwear must be worn at all times when in a workshop / classroom. Footwear must provide coverage and protection against sharp object penetration. Footwear must also contain a non-slip, flat sole to reduce the possibility of slipping and / or tripping.
5.6. Using tools such as a rotary tool carries inherence risk. All participants must secure any loose fitting clothes and / or accessories before approaching, observing or using any tool with moving parts. Long hair must be tied in a fashion that eliminates the possibility of entanglement.
6. Participant Special Requirements:
6.1. Participants are required to disclose any physical/mental disability or learning difficulties prior to registration.
6.2. Participants who are or think there is a possibility of being pregnant should consult medical advice prior to registering to any course. A copy of a doctors’ note of authorization is required before being considered for participation any course.
6.3. Unless otherwise indicated in the course description, all locations are wheelchair accessible.
7.1. Payments of deposits and course must be completed by the indicated deadlines to be eligible to participate in any course.
7.2. All payments are to be made by major credit cards (processed via PayPal) or Square™ (processing fees may apply). Canadian participants may also use Intrac™ direct debit payment via email - contact us for details.
8. Cancellations, Course Transfers & Refunds
8.1. Workshops require a minimum of 30 days notice to cancel any registration. In the event that the cancellation reduces the course participants to below the minimum number of participants, a refund of the amount paid minus any transaction fees will only be available upon the successful resale of the cancelled position. In the event that the number of registered participants exceeds the minimum, a full refund minus any transactions fees will be accorded.
8.2. Workshop retreats and / or any event involving an invited artist / instructor is subject to an extended minimum cancellation notification of 90 days. In the event that the cancellation reduces the course participants to below the minimum number of participants, a refund of the amount paid minus any transaction fees or / and any course specific tools / products will only be available upon the successful resale of the cancelled position. In the event that the number of registered participants exceeds the minimum, a full refund minus any transactions fees or/and any course specific tools / products will be accorded.
8.3. (Excluding workshop retreats) In the event that dates, times or location are modified after having completed at least the first step (deposit paid in full) in registration, participants will have the option to transfer to another session of their choice. If no alternative session is available, participants may cancel the reservation without penalty.
8.4. In the event of any workshop retreat date or location change after having received a workshop date and location confirmation email, participants will have the option to transfer to another session or cancel any reservation without penalty. Under no circumstance are travel and / or accommodation related costs refundable by SAB. Participants are strongly advised to only make travel arrangements upon reception of a confirmation of the workshop dates and location.
8.5. Course / workshop cancellation. In the event of unforeseen circumstances beyond our control forcing a cancellation of a course or workshop, participants will have the option to transfer to another session or cancel any reservation without penalty. Under no circumstance are travel and / or accommodation related costs refundable by SAB. Any third party expenses are the sole responsibility of the third party and covered by the agreed upon terms and conditions established between the participant and the third party. Participants attending workshop retreats are strongly advised to purchase travel insurance and / or purchase refundable tickets or reservations to cover any unforeseen eventuality. Under no circumstance are travel and / or accommodation related costs refundable by SAB. Participants are strongly advised to only make travel arrangements upon reception of a confirmation of the workshop dates and location.
8.6. In the event that a participant is required to cancel their reservation resulting from medical or bereavement, upon the production of a doctors confirmation, the participant will have the option to transfer to another session, nominate a delegate replacement who meets the requirements (as per section 8.7.) or cancel any reservation without penalty.
8.7. Under no circumstance may a participant re-sell their reserved course position for a value greater than the purchase price. A participant may transfer their reservation to a delegate who meets the minimum requirements detailed in section 2. Notification of the intended transfer must be sent by email to no later than 24hrs prior to the course start. Failure to provide notification of the intended transfer may result in the delegate being excluded from the course with no recourse for a refund of fees paid.
8.8. Participants who do not present to the course “no show” will automatically be ineligible to any refund unless 8.6. is applicable.
8.9. Participants may change to another course with the following conditions: (a) The change does not reduce the originally registered course to below the minimum number of participants resulting in a course cancellation. (b) In the event that both courses are below the minimum number of participants, the participant is free to change courses with no penalty. (c) Any change is based on availability (b) Non-Local Workshops may only be changed up to 60 days prior to the intended start date.
9.1. This statement of privacy applies to any and all activities offered by www.sky-and-beyond.com / relating to the collection, storage and use of personal information.
9.3. The only personal information collected is that voluntarily submitted by the user such as name and email address when subscribing to member pages. All personal data submitted by a user is only used for the purpose of its intended submission. Name, email, phone number and / or address is only collected in order to provide a service or in the process of a sale of products.
9.4. Use of personal data: All personal data submitted by a user is only used for the purpose of its intended submission. We occasionally use email addresses to contact clients or interested parties with non-marketing content. An example would be wishing them a “happy birthday” or advising of changes in products, services for which they inquired.
9.5. In compliance with international anti-spam regulations, all newsletter or marketing emails are only sent to users who have voluntarily subscribed to such emails. All emails of this nature provide a simple “unsubscribe” link which the user may invoke at any time.
9.7. Sky-And-Beyond does not keep any records of a users financial details including credit/debit card information within our organisation in any form, either written or digital format. All financial details entered via our website during the process of making a purchase are collected by a third party provider. The third party provider is clearly identified at the time of purchase. The only information collected by SAB is a record of transaction that does not contain credit / debit card information.
9.8. In the event that a purchase order is accepted by telephone, the same payment system is used with the information being provided by the user being submitted to our third party through the same website application directly with no hand written notes of the financial information being collected.
10. Respect of intellectual property & Acceptable Usage:
10.1. All course content, documentation and media is the property of Sky-And-Beyond. Registration to any course provides access only to the learning materials and content, with no authorization of re-production in any and all formats without express written permission from Sky And Beyond.
10.2. Documentation provided to participants is with the sole intent of their personal use in the development or enhancement of their skills. Information contained in any course related materials provided to a participant is intended as a reference source. The information may be used in discussion or collaboration with others in a verbal format only.
